Tagging a Private Template at Creation

Add metadata to a private template when you first create it. This metadata enables you to define keys and values and to associate them with resources.

    1. Open the navigation menu and click Developer Services. Under Resource Manager, click Private Templates.
    2. On the Private templates page, select a compartment.
    3. Click Create private template.
    4. In the Create private template panel, click Show advanced options and then provide values for the tagging fields.
      • Tag namespace: To add a defined tag, select an existing namespace. To add a free-from tag, leave the value blank.
      • Tag key: To add a defined tag, select an existing tag key. To add a free-form tag, type the key name that you want.
      • Tag value: Type the tag value that you want.
      • Add tag: Click to add another tag.
    5. Enter other values as needed.

    6. Click Create.
  • Use the oci resource-manager template create command and required parameters to tag a private template when you create it.

    oci resource-manager template create [--defined-tags | --freeform-tags] <tags> [...]

  • Run the CreateTemplate operation to tag a private template when you create it. Include the definedTags and freeformTags attributes and their values.
