Creating Migration Prerequisites

Describes the steps to create Oracle Cloud Migrations prerequisites.

Using the Console

  1. Open the navigation menu and click Migration & Disaster Recovery. Under Cloud Migrations, click Overview.
  2. On the Overview page, click Create Prerequisites.
  3. In the Create Stack window, in the Stack Information section, perform the following actions:
    • Select the Oracle terms of use check box.
    • (Optional) Change the stack name.
    • (Optional) Enter the stack description.
    • Select the compartment where you want to create the stack.
    • (Optional) Select the latest Terraform version.
    • (Optional) Add tags to organize your resource. To apply a defined tag, you must have permissions to use the tag namespace. For more information about tagging, see Resource Tags. If you are not sure whether to apply tags, skip this option (you can apply tags later) or ask your administrator.
  4. Click Next.
  5. In the Configure variables section, provide the following details:
    • The compartment OCID where the stack is created.
    • A tag namespace named CloudMigrations and the associated tag definitions required for the migration service to function. The namespace is unique for the the tenancy. Clear the create_cloud_migrations_tag_namespace_and_tag_definitions check box if these resources have already been created. This option is selected by default.
    • An object storage bucket that is used as temporary storage during data replication. Clear the create_replication_bucket check box if you want to use an existing object storage bucket for this purpose.
    • (Optional) Enter the name of the object storage bucket where the Oracle Cloud Migrations replication snapshots are stored.
    • (Optional) The tenancy OCID is displayed.
  6. Verify the configuration variables and click Create.
