Chatting with Agents in Generative AI Agents
Chat with an agent that you have created in the Generative AI Agents service.
Before you start, ensure that you have an agent with an endpoint. See Creating an Agent in Generative AI Agents.
- In the navigation bar of the Console, select a region that hosts Generative AI Agents, for example, US Midwest (Chicago). If you don't know which region to select, see Regions with Generative AI Agents.
- Open the navigation menu and select Analytics & AI. Under AI Services, select Generative AI Agents.
- Under Generative AI Agents, select Chat.
- For Agent compartment, select the compartment that contains the agent that you want to chat with.
- For Agent endpoint compartment, select the compartment that contains the endpoint for the agent that you want to chat with.
- Select an agent to chat with.

Select the endpoint for the agent.
If you don't know which endpoint to select, see Listing the Endpoints in Generative AI Agents.
- Start a conversation by typing a message.
- Select Submit.
- To continue the chat conversation, enter a follow-up prompt and select Submit. To start a new conversation, select Reset Chat session.

Under Metadata filters select Add filter and add one or more filters. Chat with the filters selected and clear the filters after you're done.

For this step to work, you must have performed the steps in Enhancing Responses with Metadata Filtering. Then you get the metadata names and conditions for the values. For example, you can add a filter,topic contains technical, wheretopicis the metadata name,containsis the condition, andtechnicalis the metadata value. Another example isyear = 2025whereyearis the metadata name,=is the condition, and2025is the metadata value. - (Optional)
If you enabled trace and citation for the selected endpoint, review the results.
