Enable Database Management Service to Monitor and Manage Autonomous Database
You can use the Diagnostics & Management features in the Database Management service for advanced monitoring and management of Autonomous Databases.
Certain metrics and Performance Hub features are available free of cost for Autonomous Databases, however, you must create a private endpoint to enable communication and enable Database Management to use the advanced monitoring and management features, which are available at an additional cost.
Prerequisite Steps to Use Database Management Diagnostics & Management for Autonomous Databases:
Before you enable Database Management Diagnostics & Management for an Autonomous Database:
- Complete the general Oracle Cloud Infrastructure prerequisite tasks listed in Perform General Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Prerequisite Tasks.
- Obtain the permissions required to enable Diagnostics & Management for Autonomous Databases, as detailed in Permissions Required to Enable Diagnostics & Management for Autonomous Databases.
- Complete the Autonomous Database-specific prerequisite tasks listed in Autonomous Database-related Prerequisite Tasks.
Enable Database Management Diagnostics & Management for an Autonomous Database Instance:
To enable Database Management Diagnostics & Management for an Autonomous Database instance:
-
On the Autonomous Database details page, under Associated Services, in the Database Management field, click Enable.
-
On the Enable Database Management panel, enter the required information and click Enable Database Management. See Enable Diagnostics & Management for Autonomous Databases for more information.
After you enable Diagnostics & Management features in Database Management, you can use the full suite of available capabilities to monitor and manage a single Autonomous Database or a fleet of Autonomous Databases.
Here are some of the important performance monitoring and administration-related features:
- Database fleet overview to monitor multiple databases in one location
- Performance Hub for real-time monitoring of the database workload
- AWR Explorer to visualize AWR data over time
- SQL Monitoring to view top and current running SQL statements with detailed execution statistics
- SQL performance tuning to optimize database performance
- AWR and ADDM reports for in-depth performance analysis
- User administration to track configuration and details of database users
- Parameter configuration to update and monitor database configuration parameters
- Database jobs to streamline collections and run at scale utilizing Database Groups
