Terminating a Primary or Standby Autonomous Container Database
You can terminate primary and standby container databases separately. However, the consequences of terminating a primary container database and terminating a standby container database differ:
- Terminating a primary container database terminates all the primary and standby container databases. You cannot terminate a primary container database that contains autonomous databases.
- Terminating a standby container database removes it from the Autonomous Data Guard configuration. If a primary container database no longer has any standby afterwards, it becomes a standalone container database.
If you are using a multi-standby setup with automatic failover enabled, you must disable automatic failover before terminating any standby Autonomous Container Database.
