Terminate an Autonomous Container Database

You terminate an Autonomous Container Database by clicking Terminate on its Details page.

Required IAM Policies

manage autonomous-container-databases

use autonomous-exadata-infrastructures if creating the Autonomous Container Database on Oracle Cloud

use autonomous-vmclusters if creating the Autonomous Container Database on Exadata Cloud@Customer

Procedure

  1. Go to the Details page of the Autonomous Container Database you want to terminate.

For instructions, see View Details of an Autonomous Container Database.

  2. Click Terminate.

  3. In the Terminate Autonomous Container dialog:

    1. Read the warning about terminating an Autonomous Container Database.

    2. Enter the name of the Autonomous Container Database.

    3. Click Terminate Autonomous Container to begin the termination process.

Terminating a Primary or Standby Autonomous Container Database

You can terminate primary and standby container databases separately. However, the consequences of terminating a primary container database and terminating a standby container database differ:

  • Terminating a primary container database terminates both the primary and standby container databases. You cannot terminate a primary container database that contains autonomous databases.
  • Terminating a standby container database terminates the standby container database and removes the Autonomous Data Guard configuration from the primary container database, making it a standard container database.
