Cloud/external database performance
The Cloud/external database performance dashboard provides an overview of the performance of a single External Database or Oracle Cloud Database over a specified time period.
To access the Cloud/external database performance dashboard from the Managed database details page of the External Database or Oracle Cloud Database, click Dashboards and then click Database performance.
In the Cloud/external database performance dashboard:
- Select a time period for which you want to display data in the widgets. By default, the widgets in the dashboard display performance data for the last 60 minutes, however, you can select a different time period in the upper-right corner of the dashboard.
- Review the options selected in the Compartment and Database fields above the widgets and make changes, if required. If the Compartment and Database fields are not displayed, click the Open/close filter panel icon () to view them.
Here's the list of widgets displayed in the Cloud/external database performance dashboard and a brief description of each widget.
Data is not displayed in certain widgets in the following scenarios:
-
For PDBs, metric data is not displayed in the Process usage and Flash recovery area usage (GB) widgets.
-
For Oracle Cloud Databases for which the Basic management option was selected when enabling Database Management, some widgets may not display any metric data. The Basic management option only includes 14 metrics such as
CpuUtilization
andStorageAllocated
, and data for other metrics is not displayed in the widgets. For information on management options, see About Management Options.
Widget | Description |
---|---|
Average Active Sessions |
The average rate of accumulation of database time (CPU + Wait) by foreground sessions. For RAC databases, this widget displays the sum of the average DB time across instances. Note that this widget does not display metric data for Oracle Cloud Databases enabled with the Basic management option. |
CPU utilization (%) |
The percentage of CPU utilized. For RAC databases, this widget displays the average of the CPU utilized across instances. |
CPU and wait (AAS) |
The CPU time, wait time, and user I/O time used by foreground sessions in a single database. For RAC databases, this widget displays the sum of the average CPU time, wait time, and user I/O time across instances. Note that this widget does not display metric data for Oracle Cloud Databases enabled with the Basic management option. |
Memory usage (GB) |
The average memory usage. For RAC databases, this widget displays the sum of the average memory usage across instances. Note that this widget does not display metric data for Oracle Cloud Databases enabled with the Basic management option. |
User calls |
The total number of parse, logon and execute calls. For RAC databases, this widget displays the sum of the total user calls across instances. |
Current logons |
The number of successful logons. For RAC databases, this widget displays the sum of the average current logons across instances. |
Transactions |
The total number of user commits and user rollbacks. For RAC databases, this widget displays the sum of the total transactions across instances. |
Process usage |
The number of used processes compared to the process limit. For RAC databases, this widget displays the sum of the average process usage across instances. Note that this widget does not display metric data for PDBs and Oracle Cloud Databases enabled with the Basic management option. |
IO throughput (MBPS) |
The average I/O throughput. For RAC databases, this widget displays the sum of the average I/O throughput across instances. Note that this widget does not display metric data for Oracle Cloud Databases enabled with the Basic management option. |
Storage used by tablespaces (GB) |
The total storage space used and the storage space used by the various tablespaces (listed in the legend) compared to the storage space limit. As this is a database-level metric, database instance metrics are not displayed in this widget for RAC databases. |
IO per second (IOPS) |
The average number of I/O operations per second. For RAC databases, this widget displays the sum of the average IOPS across instances. Note that this widget does not display metric data for Oracle Cloud Databases enabled with the Basic management option. |
Flash recovery area usage (GB) |
The used and reclaimable flash recovery area for the database compared to the flash recovery area limit. As this is a database-level metric, database instance metrics are not displayed in this widget for RAC databases. Note that this widget does not display metric data for PDBs and Oracle Cloud Databases enabled with the Basic management option. |
