Configure Managed Instances

A managed instance can be a host on your premises, a compute instance on OCI, or on a third-party cloud platform.

Use this action button to download the management agent software, installation script, and response file.

To access the Configure Managed Instances page, use either of the following options:

  • In the Fleet Dashboard, click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) of the required fleet row and select Configure managed instances.

    OR

  • In the Fleet Details page, click Configure managed instances action button.

Download Management Agent Software

Select the agent software relevant for your platform.

Follow these instructions to download the management agent software:
  1. In the Download management agent software section, select the agent software relevant for your platform. The following information is presented along with package:
    • Download: the agent software package for each platform
    • Package type: type of packaging, for example, ZIP, RPM
    • Package architecture type: type of architecture, for example, x86, AARCH64, x86_64
    • Agent version: version number of the agent software
    • Size (MB): size of the package
    • SHA-256 Checksum: the hash code of the downloadable
    Note

    Oracle Linux: download the rpm file.

    Ubuntu: download the zip file.

  2. Transfer the agent software to your machine that you want to register with the fleet.

Installing Management Agent

You can configure your managed instances either automatically using a script or manually using a response file.

Install Using Installation Script

Follow these instructions to download the installation script:

  1. In the Install using installation script section, select the script relevant for your platform. The following information is presented:
    • Download: downloadable installation script for each platform
    • File type: the type of the script, for example, pshell, shell
    • Size: size of the installation script
  2. Select the required directory on your system and click Save. Ensure that both script and agent software are saved in the same directory, and they are the only files in that directory.

Manual Install

You can configure the managed instances manually using the response file.

In the Manual install section, click Save response file. Select the required directory and click Save.
