Stack Monitoring lets you proactively monitor an application and its underlying application stack, including application servers and databases. It starts by discovering all components of the application, including the application topology. Once discovered, it automatically collects status, load, response, error, and utilization metrics for all application components. Each component of the application stack is referred to as a resource. Using the Enterprise Summary dashboard, you will be able to get an overview of status across all resources, and drilldown to view problem areas. Each resource has a homepage where you can monitor any open alarms and check if there are any errors, spikes in resource utilization or other performance issues. Using the Stack View of the application homepage, you’ll be able to correlate a performance issue at the application layer with potential errors or resource issues on underlying components of the stack such as the application server or database.
All status and performance metrics are stored in OCI Monitoring Service. You can use OCI Monitoring Service to generate alarms when any metrics cross specified thresholds.
