View Monitor Availability

You can view the availability details of your monitor in the Availability widget in the Oracle-defined Monitors dashboard.

As a first step, you must ensure that you've configured the criteria to calculate availability when creating or editing a monitor. In addition, you can also specify a maintenance window for the monitor, to exclude the availability calculations for uptime reporting during the specified duration.

For existing monitors, you must edit the monitor and configure the criteria for availability data to be displayed in the Availability widget.

Once the availability calculation criteria is configured, the information is passed via spans and traces and you can view this data in the Availability widget in the Oracle-defined Monitors dashboard.

To view the Availability widget in the Monitors dashboard:

  1. Sign in to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure console.
  2. Open the navigation menu, click Observability & Management. Under Application Performance Monitoring, click Dashboards.
  3. Click the Monitors dashboard to view it.
  4. In the Monitors dashboard, select the appropriate compartment and APM domain.

The Availability widget displays the availability data for the time period specified in the dashboard. This widget has the following columns:

  • Monitor Name: The name of the monitor.
  • Time Covered By Reports (min): The duration of time in which availability was calculated.
  • Availability (%): The availability of the monitor.
  • Prior Period Availability (%): The availability of the monitor in the same duration of time prior to the selected time period. For example, if Last 60 Minutes is the selected time period for the dashboard, then this column shows the monitor's availability during the 60 minutes prior to the selected time period.
  • Downtime (min): The duration of time the monitor was unavailable.
