Database Management Metrics for External Database Systems

You can use the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring service to build metric queries to monitor External Database System components that are registered and monitored in Database Management, and create alarms to be notified when the metrics meet alarm-specified triggers.

As initial steps, you must review the concepts essential to working with the Monitoring service and obtain the required permissions. For information, see Monitoring Concepts and Details for Monitoring.

Required Permissions

To monitor the metrics for the External Database System components, you must be granted the required type of access in a policy. The policy must grant you access to the monitoring services as well as the resources being monitored. If you try to perform an action and get a message that you do not have permission or are unauthorized, confirm with your administrator the type of access you've been granted and which compartment you should work in. For more information on user authorizations for monitoring, see the Authentication and Authorization section for the related service: Monitoring or Notifications.

For information on the required Database Management permissions, see Permissions Required to Monitor External Database Systems.

Note

This section provides information on the metrics available for External Database System components, except databases. For information on the metrics available for External Databases, see External Database Metrics.
