Note

On January 1, 2025, Oracle Linux 7 moved from Premier to Extended Support. Oracle Cloud customers using Oracle Linux are entitled to both Premier Support and Extended Support (when offered). For more information about the Extended Support program, see Oracle Linux Extended Support.

  • Includes all OS updates as of December 16, 2020.
  • Includes enhancements in dracut, including the following updates to speed up the boot time of BM shapes in v033-572.0.3:
    • All DHCP requests are sent on all interfaces in parallel.
    • The ip=dhcp kernel command-line parameter is replaced with ip=single-dhcp.
  • Addresses optimization issues with OCI tuned profiles in v2.11.0-10.0.3.
  • Improves diagnostic and debugging data collection by installing the following diagnostic packages:
    • trace-cmd.x86_64
    • perf.x86_64
    • iperf3.x86_64
    • oled_tools.x86_64
  • Replaces the MariaDB library files with the MySQL libraries and enables the MySQL repository:
    • The mysql-release-el7 package is installed and the ol7_MySQL80 repository is enabled. This repository is mirrored in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure regions.
    • The mysql-community-libs package is installed from the ol7_MySQL80 repository. This package replaces the mariadb-libs package that was installed in previous releases of the image.
    • Introduces the following MySQL packages:
      • mysql-community-client-plugins-8.0.22-1.el7.x86_64
      • mysql-community-common-8.0.22-1.el7.x86_64
      • mysql-community-libs-8.0.22-1.el7.x86_64
      • mysql-community-libs-compat-8.0.22-1.el7.x86_64
      • mysql-release-el7-1.0-3.el7.x86_64
    • Removes the following MariaDB package: mariadb-libs-5.5.68-1.el7.x86_64

  • Disables the ol7_developer and ol7_developer_EPEL repositories. To enable these repositories, use the following commands:

    $ sudo yum-config-manager --enable ol7_developer $ sudo yum-config-manager --enable ol7_developer_EPEL

  • Note: Packages found in either the ol7_developer and ol7_developer_EPEL repositories are considered unsupported and are only entitled to basic installation support. Content from these repositories is not recommended for production environments and is intended for developer purposes only.
