Auto-enable Hosts for the Service

Auto-enable allows Ops Insights to automatically add new compute instances whenever they are added into a host or tenancy. Auto-enable will also listen for deletion events and remove instances when deleted.

Turn ON Auto-enable

To allow Auto-enable to automatically add compute instances added into a host or tenancy, navigate to the Host Fleet Administration page by clicking on the left hand menu: Ops Insights then Administration and lastly Host fleet.

Under Scope in the left hand menu select the compartment or tenancy you wish to configure for Auto-enable.

Once the Host Fleet Administration page loads, a note at the top will display Auto-enable is currently OFF in this compartment, click on Manage Auto-enable rules to configure Auto-enable.
  • Verify the compartment or tenancy selected is correct, if not close the pop up and select the correct compartment or tenancy.
    Note

    Enabling Auto-enable for tenancy will enable it for all child compartments within the tenancy as well.
  • Checkmark the Automatically enable Ops Insights for newly provisioned instances in this compartment option.
Once complete click Save Changes. Auto-enable is now turned on. Once enabled Ops Insights will now start to bill and display for all new hosts created in the specified compartment or tenancy.
Note

Compute instances that are terminated will be automatically disabled in Ops Insights when Auto-enable is on.

Turn OFF Auto-Enable

To turn off Auto-enable, navigate to the Host Fleet Administration page by clicking on the left hand menu: Ops Insights then Administration and lastly Host fleet.

Under Scope in the left hand menu select the compartment or tenancy you wish to disable Auto-enable for.

Once the Host Fleet Administration page loads, a note at the top will display Auto-enable is currently ON in this compartment, click on Manage Auto-enable rules to configure Auto-enable.
  • Verify the compartment or tenancy selected is correct, if not close the popup and select the correct compartment or tenancy.
    Note

    Disabling Auto-enable for tenancy will disable it for all child compartments within the tenancy as well.
  • Un-check the Automatically enable Ops Insights for newly provisioned instances in this compartment option.
Once complete click Save Changes. Auto-enable is now turned on.
Note

Compute instances that were enabled during Auto-enable, will not be disabled once Auto-enable is turned off.
