The JuypterLab Git extension is now available in notebook sessions. This change came with the latest Notebook Virtual Machine  (NBVM) so you must deactivate and reactivate your notebook session to activate the extension.  If you see the “Failed to load the jupyterlab-git server extension” warning, that means you are running an older version of NBVM so you won't be able to use the Git extension. Click Dismiss to work in the notebook without issues.
