OCI's Databse service has enhanced the capabilities of Database Software Images for patching and creating databases on bare metal and virtual machine DB systems. Changes include:

• You can now create a database software image based on any currently supported Oracle Database release update (RU).

• You can create a standby database for a Data Guard association with any custom image supported by the Database Home of the primary database.

• You can patch databases with any image based on the most current Oracle Database software release, or with an image based on any of the three most recent releases of a major Oracle Database software version.
