Signing In for the First Time
Use the account activation/welcome email to sign in for the first time.
After you sign up for the Oracle cloud account, you get an account activation/welcome email. The email provides you with the sign in details.
To find your account activation email, search your inbox and spam folder for the name of the cloud account or tenancy. You can also search for "Oracle" or the phrases "Cloud Console," "activate your profile," or "activate your account." Note that administrators can modify the account activation email format and the information it includes. Your account activation email might contain additional or different sign-in information.
If you still can't find your account activation email, contact Oracle support to resend one to you. If you need help contacting support, see Contacting Support.
- Open the account activation email.
- Click Activate Your Account link.
- You're prompted to change the password the first time you sign in. Enter a new password.
- Enter again the new password to confirm and click Reset Password.
- After the password is reset successfully, click Continue to Sign In.
You get an email confirming the successful resetting of the password. The email has a Sign In link that you can click to sign in to the Oracle cloud account as an alternate option.
- Enter your username or email.
The username is available in the account activation mail and the password reset mail.
- Enter the password and click Sign In.
- To enable secure verification, click Enable Secure Verification.Note
Secure verification is applicable if your administrator has set up one or both verification methods and require that you enroll in them before accessing your account.Verification methods available are passwordless and multi-factor authentication (MFA). With passwordless verification you can verify your identity without requiring you to remember a password. MFA is an extra security step to the authentication process. See Managing 2-Step Verification.
- Select one of the two methods for verification:
- Mobile App: Use your mobile device during the login process to verify your identity.
- Fido Authenticator: Use your security key for authentication.
We recommend that you set up another verification method to ensure that you have a backup. See Setting Up Account Recovery and 2-Step Verification.
If the administrator has enabled Keep me signed in and the current sign-on policy allows it, then you see the option in the sign-in window. Administrators configure a sign-on policy to specify the allowed duration for a signed-in session and how long a signed-in session can be inactive before having to sign in again. If you check Keep me signed in, then you're able to access an identity domain without having to sign in again.
The sign-on policy overrides the Keep-me signed in session. This means that even though a user is signed in using Keep-me signed in, after the session expires, if the policy requires reauthentication or multifactor authentication, then the user is asked to reauthenticate or to provide MFA. Use Keep me signed in option only for private or personal computers or devices.
You're successfully signed in to the Oracle Cloud Console. See Using the Console for the next steps to get started with the Console.
When you're signed in to the Console for one of the commercial regions, the browser times out after 60 minutes of inactivity, and you need to sign in again to use the Console.
