Analyzing Storage Growth

Total Storage: Growth Chart

Location: On the Storage dashboard at Customer Level. The Total Storage: Growth chart is displayed by default.

The Total Storage: Growth report shows the storage usage growth over the specified time interval across all your organization's services. Use this report to understand if a current overage is likely to be a temporary incident or if there is a trend of continuous growth, as well as to understand how a change in the number of environments has impacted the growth.

Chart View: The chart view shows the storage usage growth over the specified time interval. Storage is displayed as a continuous blue line. When available, Storage Entitlement is displayed as a red dotted line.

Click Open Table View in the lower right corner of the chart to open the Total Storage: Growth table view in expanded mode.

Table View: The table view provides an overview of the average storage space usage by service, environment, category, and subcategory, over the specified time interval:

  • Service: Specifies the service for which the storage usage metrics were collected from Oracle Enterprise Manager.

  • Environment: Specifies the environment for which the storage usage metrics were collected from Oracle Enterprise Manager.

  • Category: Provides high-level information about the type of storage used, such as database, code, etc.

  • Subcategory: Provides more detailed information about the type of storage used.

  • Mount Point: Indicates storage as seen by the host.

  • Used Storage Avg (GB): Indicates the average storage space usage for each subcategory or each mount point over the specified time interval.

Exadata: Growth Chart

Location: On the Storage dashboard at Customer Level. Click the Personalize charts to open the Personalize list. In the Exadata section, select Exadata: Growth, then click Apply.

Note

This report is available only for customers with Exadata machines.

The Exadata: Growth chart shows the growth in the logical space used by the databases associated with the Exadata machine over the specified time interval. To generate this report, select the device from the Machine menu.

Chart View: The chart view shows the growth in the logical space used by the databases associated with the Exadata machine over the specified time interval. Storage is displayed as a continuous green line.

Click Open Table View in the lower right corner of the chart to open the Exadata: Growth table view in expanded mode.

Table View: The table view provides an overview of the average storage space usage by service, environment, category, and subcategory, over the specified time interval.

  • Date: Specifies the date when the report was generated.

  • Exadata Box Name: Specifies the Exadata device the report was generated for.

  • Environment Label: Specifies the environment associated with the Exadata device.

  • Disk Group: Specifies the database and recovery space.

  • Used Space (GB): Specifies the usage for the disk group without including mirroring.

Exalogic: Growth Chart

Location: On the Storage dashboard at Customer Level. Click the Personalize charts to open the Personalize list. In the Exalogic section, select Exalogic: Growth, then click Apply.

Note

This report is available only for customers with Exalogic machines.

The Exalogic: Growth chart shows the growth in the physical space used from the filer associated with the Exalogic machine over the specified time interval. To generate this report, select the device from the Exalogic Box Name drop-down list above the chart.

Chart View: The chart view shows the growth in the physical space used from the filer associated with the Exalogic machine over the specified time interval. Storage is displayed as a continuous green line.

Click the Open Table View in the lower right corner of the chart to open the Exalogic: Growth table view in expanded mode.

Table View: The table view provides an overview of the average storage space usage by service, environment, category, and subcategory, over the specified time interval.

  • Exalogic Machine: Specifies the Exalogic device the report was generated for.

  • Date: Specifies the date when the report was generated.

  • Environment Label: Specifies the environment associated with the Exalogic device.

  • Used Space (GB): Specifies the usage for the environment without including mirroring.

Prod Total Storage: Growth Chart

Location: On the Storage dashboard at Service Level. The Prod Total Storage: Growth chart is displayed by default.

The Prod Total Storage: Growth chart shows the storage usage growth for your organization's production environments over the specified time interval. Storage is displayed as a continuous line. When available, Storage Entitlement is displayed as a dotted line.

Chart View: The chart view shows the growth in commercial storage, Oracle-owned storage, and customer-owned storage for the selected service over the specified time interval.

Click Open Table View in the lower right corner of the chart to open the Prod Total Storage: Growth table view in expanded mode.

Table View: The table view provides an overview of the average storage space usage by service, environment, category, and subcategory, over the specified time interval:

  • Service: Specifies the service for which the storage usage metrics were collected from Oracle Enterprise Manager.

  • Environment: Specifies the environment for which the storage usage metrics were collected from Oracle Enterprise Manager.

  • Category: Provides high-level information about the type of storage used, such as database, code, etc.

  • Subcategory: Provides more detailed information about the type of storage used.

  • Mount point: Indicates storage as seen by the host.

  • Used Storage Avg (GB): Indicates the average storage space allocated for each subcategory over the specified time interval.

Non Prod Total Storage: Growth Chart

Location: On the Storage dashboard at Service Level. The Non Prod Total Storage: Growth chart is displayed by default.

The Non Prod Total Storage: Growth chart shows the storage usage growth for your organization's non-production environments over the specified time interval. Storage is displayed as a continuous line. When available, Storage Entitlement is displayed as a dotted line.

Chart View: The chart view shows the growth in commercial storage, Oracle-owned storage, and customer-owned storage for the selected service over the specified time interval.

Click Open Table View in the lower right corner of the chart to open the Non Prod Total Storage: Growth table view in expanded mode.

Table View: The table view provides an overview of the average storage space usage by service, environment, category, and subcategory, over the specified time interval:

  • Service: Specifies the service for which the storage usage metrics were collected from Oracle Enterprise Manager.

  • Environment: Specifies the environment for which the storage usage metrics were collected from Oracle Enterprise Manager.

  • Category: Provides high-level information about the type of storage used, such as database, code, etc.

  • Subcategory: Provides more detailed information about the type of storage used.

  • Mount Point: Indicates storage as seen by the host.

  • Used Storage Avg (GB): Indicates the average storage space usage for each subcategory over the specified time interval.

Storage: Growth Chart

Location: On the Storage dashboard for a selected environment. The Storage: Growth chart is displayed by default.

The Storage: Growth chart shows the growth in total storage, Oracle-owned storage, and customer-owned storage for your organization's Managed Cloud @Oracle production and non-production environments, or the growth in used storage and allocated storage for your organization's production and non-production Technology Cloud @OCI-C environments, over the specified time interval.

Chart View: The chart view shows the growth in used storage and allocated storage for the selected environment over the specified time interval.

Click Open Table View in the lower right corner of the chart to open the Storage: Growth table view in expanded mode.

Table View: The table view provides an overview of the used storage and the growth rate over the last month, the last quarter and the last year.

  • Service: Specifies the service for which the storage usage metrics were collected from Oracle Enterprise Manager.

  • Environment: Specifies the environment for which the storage usage metrics were collected from Oracle Enterprise Manager.

  • Category: Provides high-level information about the type of storage used, such as database, code, etc.

  • Subcategory: Provides more detailed information about the type of being used.

  • Mount Point: Indicates storage as seen by the host.

  • Used Storage Avg (GB): Indicates the average storage space usage for each mount point in each week or month over the specified time interval.

  • Allocated Storage Avg (GB): Indicates the average storage space allocated for each mount point in each week or month over the specified time interval.

    Note

    This column is available for customers all storage categories, except those with entitlement.

Tablespace Usage: Growth Chart

Location: On the Storage dashboard for a selected environment. The Tablespace Usage: Growth chart is displayed by default.

This report is available only for customers with the following storage categories: Managed Cloud @Oracle, Technology Cloud @OCI-C and @Customer.

The Tablespace Usage: Growth chart shows the storage usage growth for the tablespaces available in your organization's production and nonproduction environments over the specified time interval:

  • Daily: Use this option to show the daily storage growth in the last five days. This is the default time interval.

  • Weekly: Use this option to show the weekly storage growth in the last five weeks.

  • Monthly: Use this option to show the monthly storage growth in the last five months.

  • Quarterly: Use this option to show the storage growth in the last three months.

  • Yearly: Use this option to show the storage growth in the last 12 months.

Use the reporting of the tablespace usage inside the database to investigate how the change your project may implement impacts the overall usage inside the database.

Chart View: The chart view shows the growth in the amount of storage space used by the tablespaces available in your organization's production and nonproduction environments, over the specified time interval.

Click Open Table View in the lower right corner of the chart to open the Tablespace Usage: Growth table view in expanded mode.

Table View: The table view provides details about the amount of storage space used by the tablespaces available in your organization's production and nonproduction environments:

  • Tablespace: Specifies the tablespace for which the storage usage metrics were collected.

  • Used Storage Avg (GB): Indicates the average storage space usage for each tablespace over the specified time interval.
