Monitor Alarms for MySQL HeatWave DB Systems

You can view the number of open alarms for your fleet of MySQL HeatWave DB systems in the compartment or for a single MySQL HeatWave DB system.

The alarms in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring service monitor resources by using metrics and notify you when these metrics meet alarm-specified triggers. To monitor the alarms for your DB systems and attached HeatWave clusters in Database Management, the OCID of the DB system must be specified using the resourceId dimension.

For information on:

  • Permissions required to create alarms and how to create alarms, see Managing Alarms.
  • Namespaces and dimensions of the DB systems monitored by Database Management, see Database Management Metrics for MySQL HeatWave.
    Note

In addition to the open alarms created using the metrics emitted by Database Management in the oracle_oci_database namespace, the open alarms that were created for a Database Management-enabled DB system using the metrics emitted by the MySQL HeatWave service in the oci_mysql_database namespace can be monitored in Database Management. The resourceId dimension must be specified for these open alarms to be displayed in Database Management. For information on the metrics emitted by the MySQL HeatWave service in the oci_mysql_database namespace, see MySQL HeatWave Service Metrics.

The open alarms for the DB systems for which the resourceId dimension is specified are displayed on the following Database Management pages:

  • MySQL HeatWave fleet summary: Displays the total number of open alarms for the DB systems in the compartment and attached HeatWave clusters, if any.
  • MySQL database details: Displays the total number of open alarms for the DB system and the HeatWave cluster attached to the DB system, if any.

Click the number of alarms on the Database Management pages to access the Alarms panel.

Note

You must have additional Monitoring service permissions to monitor alarms in Database Management. For information, see Additional Permissions Required to Use Database Management.

In the Alarms panel, you can:

  • View the list of open alarms along with information such as the name and severity of the alarm.

If you want to view all the open alarms in the compartment, then click the link in the introductory text in the Alarms panel. A list of open alarms is listed on the Alarm Status page in the Monitoring service.

  • Select the Show suppressed alarms check box to view suppressed alarms. Suppression is a configuration to avoid publishing messages during the specified time range. For information on the suppression configuration, see Managing Alarms.
  • Use the Severity drop-down list or the Search by... field to filter the list of alarms.
  • Click the name of the DB system (in the Database column) to go to the MySQL database details page and view the open alarm. Note that the Database column is only displayed if you access the Alarms panel from the MySQL HeatWave fleet summary page.
  • Click the name of the alarm to go to the Alarm Definitions page in the Monitoring service. On this page, you can review information about the alarm, such as its summary, severity, evaluation, and history. You can also perform tasks such as suppressing, updating, or deleting the alarm. For information on the Alarm Definitions page, see Managing Alarms.
