How Logging Analytics Works
The following image shows the overview of log collection and processing in Logging Analytics:

Log Data from Applications, Infrastructure, and Services: Applications, Containers, SaaS Apps, Infrastructure and IoT Devices, Cloud Infrastructure and Services whether on OCI, third-party cloud, or on-premises generate log data in different shapes, formats and velocity.
Log Collectors: Collect the logs using a collection agent best suited for your environment and how your systems provide access to logs such as REST API, Stream, Files, SQL, and Windows Events.
Logging Analytics Visualizations, Dashboards and Alarms:
-
Log data is processed, enriched and indexed using built-in extensible sources.
-
Users leverage Log Explorer interactive GUI in OCI Console to query, analyze, and visualize enriched log data and build dashboards.
-
Operators use dashboards, email reports, and alarms to continuously monitor.
-
DevOps and Admins are notified of problems, and potential issues to take action and build custom workflows and experience for managing issues.
