On April 23, 2025, OS Management reaches end of life (EOL). Effective now, the service is no longer available to you in regions where you are not already using OS Management, or to new users with new tenancies. Before the EOL date, we recommend that you migrate your managed instances to the OS Management Hub service. If you are an Oracle Autonomous Linux user, see Important Maintenance Event. For more information, see the Service Change Announcement.

Identify Top Processes

Resource Discovery and Monitoring provides easy access to checking the top 10 processes that are currently consuming the most CPU or the most Memory on the Compute instance.

Viewing Top Processes is useful for determining the cause of excessively high CPU or Memory utilization. Use the drop-down selector to switch between the two types of Top Processes.

Note

Retrieving Top Processes data to populate the table may take a couple of minutes depending on your deployment. The data represents a snapshot in time. Data is retrieved only when you first access the Top Processes page or when you do a page refresh.

To access Top Processes, do the following:

  1. Log in to the OCI Console.
  2. From the main navigation menu, click Compute and then Instances. All instances in the selected compartment are displayed.
  3. Click on one of the instances to view Instance Details page.
  4. Scroll down the page until the Resource menu appears on the left.
  5. Click OS Management.
  6. Click the Top Processes tab. The Top Processes page displays showing a list of the top ten process running in the Compute instance.
