Refreshing Entities in a Data Flow
Refresh entities while working in a data flow to ensure that you're using the latest data source schemas in the current working session of the Data Integration designer.
Only the metadata of entities is fetched when you refresh data entities, not the actual data changes. You don't have to close and open the designer to get the metadata changes that might have been made in the data sources.
You can refresh all entities used in a data flow or you can select a source or target operator and refresh the entity that's configured with that operator. For target operators, only existing entities can be refreshed. If the Create new data entity checkbox is selected, refreshing the target entity is not applicable.
In the designer of the data flow that you're creating or editing, do any of the following options:
- To refresh one entity at a time, select the source or target operator. Then click the refresh icon that's next to the entity name.
- To refresh all entities at any time, click Refresh all data entities.
-
In the Refresh data entities panel, review the entities that are impacted. Then click Refresh all to start the refresh.
When the refresh completes, a green check mark next to an entity indicates a successful refresh.
A red icon and error message indicate an entity refresh error. You can fix the error and then click Retry that displays next to the entity error message. Only that entity is refreshed in a retry.
- To always start the refresh when you click Refresh all data entities without displaying the impacted entity list, select the Automatically refresh all data entities checkbox.
