Scanning Domains

WebLogic Management scans the specified WebLogic domains for changes and for its patch readiness.

Important

When you scan a domain, WebLogic Management performs a series of checks to see if the WebLogic domain can be patched. Scans also look for any changes to the domain, such as new WebLogic servers.

Using the Console

  1. Open the navigation menu and click Observability & Management. Under WebLogic Management, click Domains.
  2. Under List scope, select the compartment that contains the domains.
  3. (Optional) Under Filters, select one or more of the following options to refine the list of domains:
    • State: Lists only the domains in the specified state.
    • Version: Lists only the domains with the specified middleware version.
    • Type: Lists only the domains with the specified middleware.
    • Patch readiness status: Lists only the domains with the specified readiness status.
  4. Select one or more domains to scan.
    Tip

    Before scanning a domain, consider navigating to its Domain details page and review available patches, server patch level, or server state.
  5. Click Scan.
  6. From the Scan domain dialog, review that this is the domain you want to scan and then click Scan.
    A scan in-progress message displays and the domain status changes to Updating.
  7. (Optional) Check the scan progress in the Work requests section of the domain's details page.
  8. When a scan is complete, the domains' details pages are refreshed showing any changes to the domain and server patch readiness information. Review the Patch readiness status for the domain and the Server patch readiness.
    • If the domain patch readiness status is Passed, review server patch readiness before applying patches.
    • If the domain patch readiness status is Failed, review the patch readiness of each domain server and take corrective action to fix the errors.
    • If any servers show Warning or Failed in the Server patch readiness part of Domain information, review them in the Servers table. Click Review patch readiness details in the Actions menu (Actions icon) to learn why a particular server did not pass readiness checks and to help you take corrective action.
