Hive Data Asset Properties

You can use a secret for the password.

To create a data asset that connects to a Hive source, complete the following properties and connection details.

Properties
Name

Enter a name for the data asset.

Identifier

The identifier is a system-generated value based on the name you specify. You can change the identifier value, but after you create and save the data asset, you cannot update the identifier.

Description

Add a description. This field is optional.

Type Displays the data asset type based on the icon you select in the Select data asset type panel. For more information, see Creating a Data Asset.
Host

Enter the IP address of the host.

Port

Enter the port number to use.

Database name

Optional: Enter the database name.

Key distribution center

Enter the IP address of the key distribution center.

Enable SSL

Select this check box if you want SSL-based authentication.

Transport mode

Select Binary or URL.

Enter the URL, if needed.

Default connection information
Name

Enter a name for the default connection.

Identifier

The identifier is a system-generated value based on the name you specify. You can change the identifier value, but after you create and save the connection, you cannot update the identifier.

Authentication method

Select one of the following authentication methods:

  • Basic: If you select this method, the following fields appear:
    • Username: Enter the user name.
    • Use password: If you select this option, enter the password.
    • Use vault secret OCID: If you use a secret in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Vault to store the password, select this option. Enter the OCID of the secret for the password.

    If you use the Basic authentication method, the Key distribution center field in the General information section is optional.

  • Kerberos: If you select this method, the following fields appear:
    • Service principle name: Enter the service principle name.
    • Keytab: Select one of the following options:
      • Upload keytab: Click the Select file link (in the Keytab file section) to select the keytab file that helps you to connect to the Hive instance supported by Kerberos.
      • Use vault secret OCID: If you use a secret in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Vault, select this option. Copy and paste the OCID key from the secret key details page of the vault that you want to connect to.
  • None: If you don't want to use an authentication method, select this option.
(Optional) Test connection
Test connection

After you complete all the required fields, you can click Test connection to ensure you have entered the data asset details correctly.

A success or failure message displays, indicating whether the test was successful or not. If the test fails, review your connection settings and try again.
